I made this blog because I was amaze by this plant they called Marijuana. Yes I used weeds before and I belive nothing is wrong with this plant. So I deserved to blog about this because I, myself has personally tried it. I am not a drug addict just for clarification.

Anyway, back to this meaningful award, here are the rules:

The aims of this award:

As a dedication for those who love blogging activity and love to encourage friendships through blogging

To seek the reasons why we all love blogging

Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it

Don't forget to mention the person who gave you the award

Answer the award's question by writing the reasons why you love blogging

Tag and distribute the award to as many people as you like

Don't forget to notify the award recipients and put their links in your post

I've been a secret fan of your blog hehe and I follow your blogs privately ngayon hindi na hehe...With gratitude, I am sharing this tag award with you guys

1. <a style="font-weight: bold;
FROM CNN’s Jack Cafferty:

As drugs and related violence from Mexico continue to infect 230 cities in the United States, some politicians, economists, and even drug law enforcement leaders say legalizing drugs may be the answer.

One Texas city councilman tells CNN “it’s the least worst option to ending cartel violence.” He says decriminalizing drugs would take away a lot of the financial incentive for the cartels to kill. Arizona’s Attorney General says 60 percent of the battle is marijuana — and he’s called for “at least a rational discussion” on ways to take the profit out of weed.

Some insist legalizing drugs like pot would help our economy. One California congresswoman says it would pump $1 billion into her state’s budget alone every year. A senior economics lecturer at Harvard says federal, state and local governments spend $44 billion a year to enforce drug prohibition. If drugs were legal, they could be making about $33 billion per year in tax revenue.

Jeffrey Miron describes how prohibition creates violence because it drives the drug market underground. He says the same was true with alcohol; and is also the case for illegal gambling or prostitution. He says prohibition of drugs also corrupts politicians and law enforcement, which is why bribery, threats and kidnapping are common for industries that are prohibited; but rare in other cases.

But critics say the consequences of legalizing drugs would far outweigh the benefits. Some focus on the moral and health related concerns about drug use. One former special agent for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration told CNN “No way. We would lose a generation.” Some wonder if drug use itself can cause violent behavior; and others aren’t sure if decriminalization would make much of a difference in the Mexican drug war. However, the country has managed to survive the repeal of Prohibition almost 80 years ago.

Here’s my question to you: Is it time for the U.S. to legalize drugs?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Kevin from the Netherlands writes:
Let American politicians ask us here in the Netherlands how we are successfully dealing with the drug problem. Most of the junkies here are foreigners who are not free to smoke weed in their countries. Check the crime statistics in America and the Netherlands, then I’ll leave the answer to you.

C. from Tampa, Florida writes:
We seem to be running out of ideas on how to make money. Legalizing and taxing the hell out of some softer drugs like marijuana could bring us considerable amounts of money.

Danny from Williamsburg, Kentucky writes:
Absolutely not. You don’t legalize murder or rape because they keep happening, nor should you legalize drugs. Drugs put us all in danger, not just from the violence that surrounds them, but because of their adverse effects on society. Do not trade one evil for another.

Jacob writes:
Only somebody who’s high could think that fighting this “war” has been effective. I don’t do drugs, and I don’t support doing so, but we’ve got to realize that everything isn’t in our control. For now, we’re only burning dollars.

Mark from Columbus, Ohio writes:
Jack, It seems like more and more people are calling for this rational discussion, so why is Obama laughing off the question like it’s some sort of joke? There have been many studies showing broad potential savings from a legal Cannibus plant and also broad potential earnings, including from taxes, industrial, textile, and biofuel resources. Maybe if Obama would sit down and “relax” for a few minutes, someone could explain to him some of the benefits that aren’t necessarily recreational.

Bill writes:
I don’t agree with the legalization of drugs. I do agree with the legalization of marijuana.

Dean from Modesto, California writes:
You are on the right track, Jack. We have to keep in mind that the “demonization” of drugs came from the federal government’s “easy” solution to something that they didn’t want to bother on figuring out how to tax.

R. writes:
If Palin becomes president, yes.

(SOURCE: CNN's Jack Cafferty Blog)

Sexiest Potheads

Last week we posted a thorough list of the most successful potheads on the planet, shattering the myth that smoking marijuana dooms you to a life of failure and worthlessness. While we were all very proud of the list, there was one glaring problem with it: there were no chicks on the list! Can you believe it? How did we make a list of stoners and not include a single female? As any avid pothead knows, girls love to get high just as much as guys. And so to right our wrong, we’ve made a list for the ladies. Here in all their glory are the seven sexiest stoners on the planet.

(Click photo to view gallery)

Anna Faris

Anna has come a long way since her Scary Movie days. Not only has she made the jump from being ‘cute as a button’ to ’smoking hot’, she’s also gone from casual smoker to full on pothead. Her turn as a stereotypical pothead in the stoner comedy Smiley Face was tellingly accurate, earning her the esteemed High Times Magazine Stonette of the Year award in 2007. Anna considers winning the award (which is a bong) to be the highlight of her career, and says that she uses it regularly to celebrate and enjoy herself at the same time.

(Click photo to view gallery)

Charlize Theron

When Charlize first decided to become an actress, everybody said she’d never make it because — get this — she was too beautiful. Sound like those people underestimated the demographic known as ‘men’. Years later, Charlize is an Academy Award winning bombshell whose love of weed is hardly a secret. Her preferred method of intake is the ever-convenient apple pipe, which she has been photographed enjoying right in her own back yard.

Lindsey Evans

You may have never heard of Lindsey before, but trust us, she has sacrificed more for her love of marijuana than most will in their lives. A true southern belle, she was crowned Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2008 after placing second in the 2007 contest. She wore her crown and sash with honor and respect until one day when her love of weed got the best of her. She and a few friends skipped the bill at a restaurant because of slow service, and Lindsey accidentally left her purse behind. In that purse? A big fat bag of weed! The Miss Teen Louisiana people didn’t appreciate the deviance, so they stripped her of her crown.

Danneel Harris

Danneel is the only star of Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay willing to admit to regularly smoking pot. This admission earned her High Times Magazine’s coveted Stonette of the Year award in 2008. But really, when you’re this hot, you can pretty much admit you do anything and people will still like you.

Kristen Stewart

The fierce star of Twilight, that vampire movie none of us saw, Kristen is new to Hollywood, but no stranger to marijuana. Since she came on the scene in 2008, she’s been photographed smoking a bowl in public and wearing a pot leaf bikini. While most starlets might be worried about their public image, Kristen obviously doesn’t give a f*ck what people think about her. She’s got that Twilight thing to fall back on, and she’ll smoke weed where she damn well pleases.

Cameron Diaz

A lifelong pot smoker, not only does Cameron has talk openly about her love of weed, she also likes to keep very stoned company. Former boyfriend Justin Timberlake is a notorious pothead, and close friend Drew Barrymore has a well known love for the leaf. Cameron and Drew were even photographed getting high in their bikinis once.

Minka Kelly

It’s no secret to the people in Austin, Texas that Minka Kelly smokes a ton of weed. The Friday Night Lights star hails from the hippie oasis, where shoes are always optional and joints are sparked publicly. While you won’t find any evidence of Minka’s stoner ways anywhere on the web, trust us, if you ever see her out in Austin, offer her a joint. You won’t regret it!

Blog from Http://coed.com

Most Successful Potheads

TOP 10 MOST SUCCESSFUL POTHEADS

An unemployed porno addict, sitting in his parents’ basement, playing video games, eating Lucky Charms out of the box with one hand while he lazily scratches his balls with the other. A dread-lock having, patchouli oil smelling, tie-die wearing, Phish listening, hula-hoop twirling space cadet. A burger flipping, acne having, socially inept, friendless loser… These are the common stereotypes associated with the term ‘pothead’. In a recent piece we published on pot farms, a debate erupted in the comments section, with some arguing that if you smoke pot, you’ll be poor, gay, and “washing dishes until you’re dead.”

Where these stereotypes originated remains a mystery to us. In reality, they couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only have 42% of Americans admitted to trying pot, but pot smokers have gone on to become some of the most successful people in our society. We’re not talking about Willie Nelson and Snoop. These guys are on the Forbes 500, they’re leading the free world, and they prove that all existing pothead stereotypes are nothing more than myths.

Sir Richard Branson

While the ‘Sir’ in front of this guy’s name puts him in some very elite company, it doesn’t automatically get him on this list. What does earn him a spot is the fact that he’s the 236th richest person in the world, founder of the Virgin empire, which encompasses everything from airlines to record stores to cell phones, and made his entire multi-billion dollar fortune from absolutely nothing. Not only does this man smoke weed, he gets high with his 21-year-old son. He has publicly stated that there’s nothing wrong with smoking pot, has petitioned for the legalization of pot, and even said that if it were legal, he’d sell it.

Rick Steves

Your name doesn’t become synonymous with ‘European Travel’ by accident. You can’t just take a bong hit, lay back in your bean bag and toss off a few ‘graphs on how awesome the Louvre is. And yet here’s Rick Steves, author of 27 top selling European travel guides, host of his own TV show and radio show, and a very outspoken pothead. He’s a member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, and credits pot for turning him into a better travel writer by opening his mind to new things.

Aaron Sorkin

In fairness to tokers around the world, Sorkin is a bit more of a ‘drug addict’ than he is ‘pothead’. He started dabbling with weed and coke back in the late ’80s, has been in and out of rehab numerous times, and was arrested for possession of marijuana, mushrooms and crack in 2001. So yeah, he loves to smoke weed… but he also loves to freebase. Not cool, Aaron! However, the man’s drug problems have done little to hinder his success in Hollywood. His work on The West Wing, both as writer and producer, earned him multiple Emmy Awards, and countless nominations for other awards.

Michael Phelps

Mr. “Has More Olympic Gold Medals Than Anyone In History” made headlines this week when photos of him and a bong surfaced. Since the scandal, Phelps has given a few interviews decrying his “bad judgment,” promising it was a dumb mistake that never happened before and won’t happen again… but we know that’s bullsh*t. Phelps was hitting that bong like a pro, not daintily toking some little amateur joint. With this in mind, we’re going to go ahead and assume this wasn’t Phelps’s first time. It might be his last, but it definitely wasn’t his first. This means that you can become the most world class athlete of all time and be a pot smoker at the same time. Stereotype shattered.

Barack Obama

Almost every American President before Barry, from Washington to Clinton to Bush, has had a pot addled past. Clinton purportedly tried and failed to smoke a joint, Bush was a boozer, but messed with coke and pot from time to time, Washington even grew marijuana on his farm. But as far as we know, none have admitted to smoking as much pot as Obama. He wrote extensively about his stoner past in his book Dreams of My Father, and in a 2007 interview stated “When I was a kid I inhaled frequently. That was the point.” Anyone who wonders what kind of future a pothead can have should take a hard look at Barack Obama. Not only can you grow up to be ridiculously smart, you can grow up to be President.

Michael Bloomberg

The Mayor of New York’s last name is associated with ‘business’ and ’success’, not ‘failure’ and ‘the munchies’. But if you’re one of those idiots who believes a pothead could never amount to anything, you’d have never guessed this was the way Bloomberg would turn out. Did he smoke pot when he was younger? In his own words “You bet I did. And I enjoyed it!”

Ted Turner

Ted is a rare breed of billionaire — he comes off as completely absent minded, incapable of even putting on his own pants. Yet he is a mega-mogul. He single-handedly invented the 24-hour news cycle with CNN, was named Time’s Man of the Year in 1991, is the largest private land owner in America, and also owns a few other TV stations, and the Atlanta Braves. So… owning lots of stuff? Not what you’d expect from a guy who grew pot in his college dorm room. Ted is also a major funder of the Kentucky Hemp Museum, along with renowned stoner Woody Harelson, and is a well known fan of the classic stoner cartoon Scooby-Doo.

Montel Williams

The talk show prince discovered pot late in life, and for good reason. Back in 1999 he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and couldn’t find anything to suppress his symptoms. He tried all sorts of pain killers; none worked, and all had horrible side effects. So he decided to try medical marijuana (same thing as regular marijuana, FYI) and it worked wonders for him! Years later, he is one of MS’s most recognizable faces, one of medical marijuana’s staunchest defenders, and even though he’s baked all the time, still managed to host his own talk show until 2008, when it was unfortunately canceled. Well, at least he’s still got his weed.

Stephen King

We haven’t included many creative types on this list, mostly because they’re all potheads. Every actor, musician and artist ever is a huge pothead. It’s a fact, don’t dispute us. But writing 1,000 page novels is a slightly different process. You can’t just ‘jam out’ The Stand. Over the course of his career, both his output and his success have been unparalleled. He’s authored upwards of 50 novels and short stories which have sold a collective 500 million copies worldwide. He’s also been one of the most vocal proponents for the legalization of marijuana, calling laws against the drug “ridiculous,” and stating that “I think that marijuana should not only be legal, I think it should be a cottage industry.” It makes perfect sense. You’d have to be stoned to come up with some of the sh*t this guy has.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

The Governator is the only man on this list who is actually on video smoking weed. In the classic documentary Pumping Iron, he is seen smoking, and loving, a joint. But hey man, that was the’70s, right? Things have chanced since then. Haven’t they? Well, Schwarzenegger hasn’t been puffing since his election to office, but he has presided over California’s recent medical marijuana renaissance. Now anyone who wants one can get a pot prescription in the state, which gives them legal access to some of the best weed in the country, and even allows them to grow plants in their own home. According to Arnold, marijuana “is not a drug, it’s a leaf.”

Blog from: http://coedmagazine.com

Painting and Hemp

If it wasn’t for the fact that we in the Netherlands have a very relaxed policy on Cannabis, we would probably become a rastafarian and move to Italy. :)

–

Rastafarians have always regarded Ethiopia as the promised land, but Italy could rank a close second after its Supreme Court ruled that smoking or possessing cannabis is not a criminal offence but a religious act when the person doing it is a Rastafarian.

Last year, the same court declared that cultivating even a single cannabis plant was a punishable offence. But now Italy’s Court of Cassation has said Rastafarians use marijuana “not only as a medical but also as a meditative herb. And, as such [it is] a possible bearer of the psychophysical state to contemplation and prayer”.

Release, the London-based drugs information service, said that the ruling was a European first.

The case was brought by a man in his forties from Perugia who was sentenced to 16 months in jail plus a €4,000 (£3,000) fine in 2004 for possession of 97g of marijuana. The Supreme Court said the court of first appeal had failed to consider that the man, a Rastafarian, smoked marijuana according to the precepts of his religion, which, the judges said, permits the smoking of 10g per day. Rastafarians smoke the drug, said the court, “with the memory and in the belief that the sacred plant grew on the tomb of King Solomon”.

The government is livid. The judgment “shatters the laws which forbid and proscribe penal sanctions for” the use of illegal drugs, an Interior Ministry spokesman said.

Right-wing politicians were scathing. Senator Maurizio Gasparri said: “Today we learn a Rasta is free to go around with drugs. If somebody belonged to a religion which permitted them to eat their children, would they give them the go-ahead, too?”

But the verdict was received with joy at Rototom Sunsplash, Europe’s biggest festival of reggae music, near Udine, in north-east Italy. “Finally the principle of religious pluralism is beginning to make headway,” Filippo Giunta, president of the festival, said. “This judgment … underlines again the difference between this substance and so-called ‘hard’ drugs, alcohol included.”

Top 10 Cannabis Movie quotes

from http://marijuanacannabis.wordpress.com

1. “Ali G Show, Da” ( 2003 ) {Politics (#1.3)}

Ali G: What is the different types of hash out there? She had raised all the money to travel to the delegation, five thousand miles from her home, herself.

Speaking about the hole in the ozone layer, pollution, the devastation of the forests and extinction of so many species, Severn charges that we adults have no idea how to fix these things, in fact can’t fix them, and that we must change our ways. “If you don’t know how to fix it, stop breaking it,” she pleads.

Severn continued to say:

“I am here to speak for all generations to come. I am here to speak on behalf of starving children around the world whose cries go unheard. I’m only a child and I don’t have the solutions…but neither do you. I am only a child, but I know we are all part of a family five billion strong; in fact, 30 million species strong, and borders and governments will never change that.

Even when we have more than enough, we are afraid to share. We are afraid to let go of some of our wealth. Two days ago here in Brazil, we were shocked when we spent some time with children living in the streets. This is what one child told us:

‘I wish I was rich. And if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicine, shelter, love and affection.’

If child on the streets who has nothing is willing to share - why are we, who have everything, still so greedy?

I am only a child, but I know if all the money spent on war was spent on finding environmental answers, ending poverty, and finding treaties - what a wonderful place this world would be.”

And here’s the kicker - this speech was given in 1992, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. How much is still relevant today? All of it. And the more important question is: How much has been changed, accomplished, since Severn spoke that day?

Years later, Severn wrote a piece for Time magazine in which she said: “I spoke for six minutes and received a standing ovation. Some of the delegates even cried. I thought that maybe I had reached some of them, that my speech might actually spur action. Now, a decade from Rio, after I’ve sat through many more conferences, I’m not sure what has been accomplished. My confidence in the people in power and in the power of an individual’s voice to reach them has been deeply shaken…In the 10 years since Rio, I have learned that addressing our leaders is not enough. As Gandhi said many years ago, ‘We must become the change we want to see.’ I know change is possible.”

Severn comes from an environmental legacy - her father is the renowned David Suzuki. At the age of nine, Severn founded the Environmental Children’s Organization (ECO), a group of children dedicated to learning and teaching other kids about environmental issues. Today, Severn is an environmental activist, speaker, television host and author. She has spoken around the world about environmental issues, urging listeners to define their values, act with the future in mind, and take individual responsibility.

She co-hosted Suzuki’s Nature Quest, a children’s television series that aired on the Discovery Channel in 2002. In early 2002, she helped launch an Internet-based think tank called The Skyfish Project. As a member of Kofi Annan’s Special Advisory Panel, she and members of the Skyfish Project brought their first project, a pledge called the “Recognition of Responsibility”, to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in August 2002.

Open letter from THE ROGAN BLOG

by JOE ROGAN - Celebrity, Fear Factor and UFC Host

An open letter to Kellogg’s re: Michael Phelps

February 16, 2009 | Posted in The Rogan Blog | Blog Archives |

Dear, Kellogg’s.
I’m writing this letter to express my disappointment in your company in firing Michael Phelps as a spokesperson for your products because he was photographed while enjoying some marijuana.
I respectfully would like to communicate my opinion on this matter because I think it’s of great public interest.
First of all, although it is true that Mr. Phelps broke the law, I think any reasonably intelligent person would admit that it’s one of the most fucked up and corrupt laws that we have today in this country. Marijuana is relatively harmless and certainly far less dangerous than a host of other things that are not only legal but also readily available, like alcohol and prescription drugs. The only reason it remains illegal to this day is because it’s a plant and you can’t patent it and control it’s sale, and because if it were legal it would greatly affect the demand for a host of prescription drugs that rake in billions of dollars each year for pharmaceutical companies.
That’s it.
Marijuana has never killed anyone EVER in over 10,000 years of use. We’re not protecting people from themselves, we’re not saving the children - it’s just a horribly illogical law that is in place because of corruption and propaganda.
The fact that it’s against the law is just a disgusting reminder of how retarded our system is, not a reasonable reaction to a proven threat to society.

I have to say, this whole thing saddens me, because I personally would like to think that as Americans we’re better than this. These television news anchors will shake their heads at the thoughtless mistake Mr. Phelps had made by “smoking dope,” and then without even the tiniest sense of irony they will cut to a beer commercial.
This is supposed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave, right? We’re not supposed to be a nation of little bitches giving in to the whims of corrupt politicians and the pharmaceutical companies who’s interests they’re representing.
It’s 2009, and in this day and age with the incredible access to information that we have available there’s no fucking way that we should be allowing human beings to tell other human beings that they can’t do something that they enjoy that hurts no one including themselves.
THAT is madness. THAT is ignorant, and THAT is completely fucking un-American.
I don’t want to hear any of that, “he’s setting a bad example with the children” nonsense either, because we all know if he had a gin and tonic in his hand instead of a bong this would never have been an issue, even though every single study ever done has shown that marijuana is FAR less dangerous than alcohol.
Marijuana laws are a horrible waste of resources and law enforcement, and especially in this day and age with our economy in such horrible shape I believe the last thing we need to be doing is wasting tax payers’ money on any of this victimless bullshit.

I find your reactions to Mr. Phelps situation both ignorant and short sighted.
I think what would have been a far better response from Kellogg’s would be to support Mr. Phelps, and perhaps point out that maybe we as a society should take a closer look at the evidence and possibly reconsider our position on this misunderstood plant that so many of our productive citizens find useful.
Now, I’m sure if you really were running Kellogg’s and you were still reading my bullshit all the way down to this, you must be thinking, “Why the hell would we stick our necks out like that for pot smokers?”

And of course the answer to that question would be, because we buy your shit, motherfucker.
Do you guys even know your consumer statistics? Well, let me fill you in on some of my own personal scientific research on the subject, because I have been closely studying my own purchases for over 20 years, and I can tell you that I’ve been high 100% of the time I’ve bought your shit.
I mean, do you guys ever think about what you sell?
Pop tarts? Are you kidding me? I would be willing to bet that 50% of the people buying pop tarts are stoned out of their fucking minds.
Just to be perfectly clear on my position, I would like you to know that I enjoy your products. I think many of them are quite tasty, but lets be honest; you guys sell sugar-drenched shit that’s horrible for your body - in fact, it’s actually way worse for your body than pot(marijuana) - and you market this shit specifically to children.
You assholes go as far as putting lovable cartoon characters on the boxes just so that kids will beg their parents for it.

Now, I don’t want you to misunderstand my point, because I in no way want anything bad to happen to your company. Like I said, I genuinely enjoy your products.
There’s nothing quite like being stoned out of your mind at 2am watching a Chuck Norris movie and eating a bowl of fruit loops. Your company and its products have been a part of some very pleasurable moments in guilty eating, and I’m glad you’re around.
All I’m saying is that it’s high time (no pun intended) that you motherfuckers respect the stoner dollar. There’s WAY more of us than you might think, and we tend to get upset about dumb shit like this. There are millions of us, and if we decide that we don’t like a company, they’re going to feel it.
I think if you looked into it carefully, you would be surprised at how many undercover potheads there are out there. Pot smokers don’t all fit into the obvious, negative stereotypes; we come in all shapes and forms - including by the way, the form of the greatest fucking swimmer who ever lived, EVER.
Think about THAT shit for a second..
So in closing, I would like to ask you nice folks to please smarten the fuck up.
I would request that you check the calendar and note that it’s 2000 and fucking 9, and next time you think about getting all uppity about pot you might want to do a quick google search on the facts.

It’s 4:40am here in LA, and I’m going to wrap up this blog and to celebrate its completion I’m going to enjoy one of my personal favorite Kellogg’s products: Eggo waffles.
I’m gonna pop 4 of them bitches into the toaster, and then I’m gonna stuff the bong with some fine, American grown “Train Wreck” and sacrifice the sacred plant to the fire gods in tribute to the unjustly persecuted 8 time Olympian hero. Then I’m gonna get some butter, and I’m gonna smear it on those Eggos, I’m gonna cover them with maple syrup, and I’m going to eat the ever loving fuck out of them.
Good day, sirs.

Yours truly,

Joe Rogan.

(I repost this without the consent of Joe Rogan. Can we turn this into a good news? Let's legalize Marijuana and utilize it for our benefit. There is more than meets the eye in this issue. Rep. Solomon Chungalao has something going in 2004, but the uninformed rode on the issue and killed it before it even made the first step. For our government, this can be an additional source of income via taxes.

For the Filipinos, read on and be informed!
***********************************************
I have been reading a lot of material on Marijuana or Hemp or cannabis sativa and it seems that we can benefit more by using it instead of making it illegal due to its “supposed” risks.” Supposed” since I’ve seen materials that say it is harmful to the body and others which say the claims are exaggerated. Some say smoking cigarettes is far more dangerous than smoking marijuana (and yet we allow cigarettes). It is clear that there is a lot of confusion on the effects or marijuana and there is a need to come up with a definitive study – one where the methodology and the results can be replicated by others for independent verification to determine once and for all its effects.
Even then, at this point, we are more at risk by not taking advantage of its other uses. What is important is that these researches be fully supported and explored – and that will happen if access to marijuana is easy (it is very hard now because of the restrictions of the law).

Let me state some of the so-called effects of Marijuana and some new studies that show otherwise. To arrive at the truth – we will need to verify these studies independently and take a critical look at the evidences presented.

• Confusion on Marijuana

o Marijuana causes cancer
 as noted above, thc – the active ingredient in marijuana – is actually shown to fight cancer and not cause it.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,196678,00.html

o Marijuana causes brain damage
 on the contrary, it promotes development of new brain cells - http://www.jci.org/cgi/content/abstract/jci25509

 It doesn’t cause phychosis
http://www.schizophrenia.com/sznews/archives/002425.html

 doesn’t affect IQ
http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn2140

o marijuana causes memory loss
 This is a good example where studies are still in contradiction to each other. What is the truth then? We’ll probably need more studies

 this 2006 study says it does and uses 20 long term users
http://www.newscientist.com/channel/being-human/drugs-alcohol/dn8839-longterm-marijuana-use-may-fog-the-brain.html
 This 1999 study says it doesn’t but uses 1,318 participant
http://www.drugtext.org/library/articles/cannabrain.htm

Remember – Marijuana is not regulated right now and there are no legal entities supervising or controlling its production. Hence – smoked marijuana is usually very crudely made. The point is – if it were legal, we’ll be able to put in more controls for those who want to smoke it (like tobacco regulations).

Among the established short-term effects of marijuana are short-term memory loss, slow reaction times and red eyes. What are the long term effects?

• Here is a good discourse that has a personal account of a long term user at the bottom
http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=30105

Ok – so, at this point, why is there a lot of confusion regarding marijuana? We’ll have to go back to history a bit…first – what is the etymology of Marijuana? I searched for an answer and this is what I found: the term Marijuana did not exist prior to the 1930s! On the other hand, the many uses of the Hemp plant were just slowly being discovered during that time. What happened then was that Marijuana as a term was introduced through propaganda and media manipulation as the new evil of society. Incidentally, people did not know that Marijuana was Hemp then. A lot of material against marijuana was created during that period, the most famous of which is the movie “Reefer Madness.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reefer_Madness. This movie identified marijuana as the source of extreme violence, among other things (marijuana actually makes you peaceful) . Reefer Madness is also the term used to describe this era in general and the result of this was the enactment of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1937_Marihuana_Tax_Act) . A lot of people did not know that marijuana was actually hemp then, hence Popular Mechanics even came out with an article a year later extolling the importance of hemp http://www.nirvana-shop.com/untoldstory/pmpage1.html. The rest, as they say, is history and we have been denied the many uses of marijuana because of the Reefer Madness era. Let us re-evaluate the evidence on Marijuana and bring the truth to the light of scrutiny. As the problems facing mankind today surmount, evidence is available that says this plant can save some of them – we only need to end our confusion and it will start with more people becoming educated on it.

By: Warlocke
You can read more @ http://forum.gov.ph/thread.asp?rootID=159768&catID=16

Michael Phelps & Marijuana Use

No one cares that Barack Obama used marijuana, why should Michael Phelps be treated differently? So here is your chance to speak out everyone! Already over 6000 people have signed. Let them know just how stupid their decision is to drop Michael Phelps! There is more as well, like this new Facebook group that is fighting the cause.

The leader of one of the biggest legalize-pot organizations, the Marijuana Policy Project, called Kellogg’s action “hypocritical and disgusting”, and said he’d never seen his membership so angry, with more than 2300 of them signing an online petition.

“Kellogg’s had no problem signing up Phelps when he had a conviction for drunk driving, an illegal act that could actually have killed someone, To drop him for choosing to relax with a substance that’s safer than beer is an outrage, and it sends a dangerous message to young people."”

said Rob Kampia, the group’s executive director.

You can clearly see across all the search engines that people are outraged over this by searching the keywords: "Boycott Kelloggs". Many outraged citizens have been phoning Kellogg's non stop, in fact, if you call the Kellogg company here is what you now hear:

"Thank you for calling the Kellogg Company. If you would like to share your comments regarding our relationship with Michael Phelps, please press one to speak to a representative. The question was posted on Barack's Change.gov website. In a successful effort from the collaboration of many websites on the nets. This question became the number #1 question in the "Open for Questions" section of the site. The question was, "Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?" S. Man, Denton

To which Obama replied, "President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana."

Why in the world would Obama say this? This is a person that has smoked it himself. This is a person that is aware of the ludicrous laws. This is a person that understands the amount of revenue and jobs that this plant would make the United States. This is the President-Elect that I voted for CHANGE! This is a President-Elect I thought would finally end these antiquated laws. These laws that cost us billons. These laws that have so much fail that adding the word "epic" hardly does justice for them.

Citizens are rotting in prison cells. Millions have been locked up at your expense on a victimless crime. You the taxpayer are paying for this. Our fellow American's are being locked away for years. And nothing is changing!

We are locking up our people because they are sick and looking for relief. We are also punishing them by not allowing them to access medicine that has been proven to help in countless diseases. We are locking up doctors that are genuinely trying to help our sick. Our sick are not criminals. The doctors that try to help them are not criminals either.

This is not the drug that our government has told us it is. There are no overdose deaths. Millions of Americans smoke or ingest marijuana every year. These are our Mothers, Fathers, Sons and Daughters. They are also our friends. This kind of attitude adjustment, along with a healthier appetite and better rest, often represents the difference between feeling like you are "dying of" AIDS or cancer and feeling like you are "living with" AIDS or cancer. Cannabis also eases small pains and some big ones and helps senior citizens live with aches and pains like arthritis, insomnia and debilitating infirmities, and enjoy life in greater dignity and comfort. Legend has it, and medical evidence indicates, that cannabis is the best overall treatment for dementia, senility, and maybe Alzheimer's disease, for long-term memory "gain" and hundreds of other benefits. U.S. statistics of the 1970s indicated that you will live eight to 24 years longer if you substitute daily cannabis use for daily tobacco and alcohol use. The United States is fighting a massive Drug War that many have forgotten about. They want to wipe out what they call the "scruge." Cannabis is not a scurge. As a matter of fact it's better than cotton. When you grow fields of cotton the roots make the soil very dry and not so healthy. (They used peanuts and soy bean plants to refertile the soil for the next harvest of cotton.) But whereas the roots from a Marijuana plant grow into the ground it breaks up the soil and brings back life to the soil. With cotton you can only use the cotton you picked, but with the Marijuana plant we can use the entire crop for over 15,000 thousand products that are made today and cost less to make. The Marijuana plant could make all that cheaper. The fibers in the plant are so strong and versatile you can do anything with Marijuana.

"If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction, were banned in order to save the planet, reverse the greenhouse effect and stop deforestation; then there is only one known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of providing the overall majority of the world's paper and textiles; meet all of the world's transportation, industrial and home energy needs, while simultaneously reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time... and that substance is the same one that has done it before . . . According to early returns, more than 60 percent of Michigan voters decided in favor of Proposal 1, which establishes a state-regulated system regarding the use and cultivation of medical marijuana by qualified patients. Voters endorsed the measure despite a high profile, deceptive, and despicable ad campaign by Prop. 1 opponents — who falsely claimed that the initiative would allow for the open sale of marijuana “in every neighborhood, just blocks from schools.” (In fact, Proposal 1 does not even allow for the creation of licensed cannabis dispensaries.) Michigan’s new law goes into effect on December 4th, at which time nearly one-quarter of the US population will live in a state that authorizes the legal use of medical cannabis. ----------- MORE:
A Government Agency Tells the Truth About Marijuana

The government is extremely multifaceted, so which agency am I referring to? The University of Texas at Austin’s University Health Services.

Instead of promoting fear and paranoia, or subsidizing the private prison industry lobby, their mission is to “support academic pursuits by fostering physical and psychological wellness and by promoting healthy lifestyles among UT students”. Perhaps this frees them up from the usual propaganda requirements.

At any rate, check out the UHS page on Marijuana. Some selected portions:

Q: Smoking marijuana causes laziness and saps motivation.

A: Undetermined, but it appears to be more false than true. The lack of motivation that some heavy users experience often can be attributed to other factors such as the use of alcohol or other drugs, depression, or other underlying personality characteristics.

Q: Marijuana is a "gateway drug." (That is, smoking pot leads to using harder drugs.)

A: This is most likely false. Most drug users don't begin with marijuana, but start with tobacco and alcohol at a fairly young age. People who go on to use harder drugs tend to be experimenters. Pot is just one of several or many drugs that experimenters may try.

Q: Use of marijuana promotes aggression and crime.

A: This is generally false. Marijuana usually has a calming effect. Most criminals who use marijuana began committing crimes before they started smoking pot. On the other hand, a couple of studies have shown a correlation between heavy marijuana use in teenagers and aggressive behavior, disruptive behavior, and crime. It's important to note that correlations do not necessarily show cause and effect.

Medical Marijuana

By bloggerdollar

Marijuana has been used for religious, spiritual and medical reasons for more than 4.000 years. In ancient times Shamans heavily used marijuana for reaching a trance state and reach their own gods. Shamans were both religious and medical authority for tribes so it isn't wrong to say that marijuana was also used as medicine in those tribes. The Egyptians used hemp to relieve pain for patients. It has been widely used for medical reasons until United States banned the usage of marijuana.

Against the common belief marijuana isn't a toxic drug which means that marijuana has no threat of death. There hasn't been a single death report caused by marijuana. When compared with 10.000 deaths caused from FDA approved medicines marijuana is a lot safer drug for medical purposes. The latest studies has also shown that marijuana has no notable cancer effects so we can say it's safer than tobacco (which United States will never ban while they gain so much profit from it). Marijuana isn't a physically addictive drug unlike alcohol and tobacco which is highly addictive. You may ask the question "Why the hell it was banned?". The only logical explanation to this is noble United States didn't want a herb every one can easily cultivate in their garden which will cut from their addictive and unhealthy cigarettes and alcohol profit.

Marijuana is used as medicine for several diseases. It is used in cancer and AIDS cases for getting rid of nausea and for increasing appetite. Marijuana is known for its increasing interest on eating so cancer patients who lose significant weight as a result of chemotherapy are using marijuana for gaining weight. I came by an episode at Desperate Housewives where a mother is preparing space cakes for her cancer patient daughter. Also AIDS patients who suffer from consistent weight loss are telling that they are benefiting from marijuana. Marijuana is also used by glaucoma patients who suffer from blindness caused by high intraocular pressure. Marijuana is reported to lower the intraocular pressure which my prevent glaucoma patients from blindness.

Although reported benefits of medical usage of marijuana medical marijuana usage is still prohibited in most countries and most states of United States. The federal authorities at United States are pushing for more control over medical usage of marijuana and trying to prevent usage in every state. According to CBS news a 41 year old woman, mother of two, living in Oakland and using marijuana with doctor prescription is taken to U.S. Supreme Court and the court ruled against medical marijuana usage. Federal authorities are trying to suppress federal laws over state laws and such court decisions are encouraging them.

Actually I'm really impressed how U.S.A. can forbid something proven to be useful while promoting deadly tobacco and alcohol. The dense shock of leaves, 8 to 12 feet above the ground, chokes out weeds.
...hemp, this new crop can add immeasurably to American agriculture and industry.'

In the 1930s, innovations in farm machinery would have caused an industrial revolution when applied to hemp. This single resource could have created millions of new jobs generating thousands of quality products. Hemp, if not made illegal, would have brought America out of the Great Depression.

William Randolph Hearst (Citizen Kane) and the Hearst Paper Manufacturing Division of Kimberly Clark owned vast acreage of timberlands. The Hearst Company supplied most paper products. Patty Hearst's grandfather, a destroyer of nature for his own personal profit, stood to lose billions because of hemp.

In 1937, Dupont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and coal. Dupont's Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane, celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of Dupont's business.

THE CONSPIRACY

Andrew Mellon became Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury and Dupont's primary investor. He appointed his future nephew-in-law, Harry J. Anslinger, to head the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Secret meetings were held by these financial tycoons. Hemp was declared dangerous and a threat to their billion dollar enterprises. For their dynasties to remain intact, hemp had to go. These men took an obscure Mexican slang word: 'marihuana' and pushed it into the consciousness of America.

MEDIA MANIPULATION

A media blitz of 'yellow journalism' raged in the late 1920s and 1930s. Hearst's newspapers ran stories emphasizing the horrors of marihuana. The menace of marihuana made headlines. Readers learned that it was responsible for everything from car accidents to loose morality.

Films like 'Reefer Madness' (1936), 'Marihuana: Assassin of Youth' (1935) and 'Marihuana: The Devil's Weed' (1936) were propaganda designed by these industrialists to create an enemy. The masses were like sheep waiting to be led by the few in power. They did not challenge authority. If the news was in print or on the radio, they believed it had to be true. They told their children and their children grew up to be the parents of the baby-boomers.

On April 14, 1937, the Prohibitive Marihuana Tax Law or the bill that outlawed hemp was directly brought to the House Ways and Means Committee. This committee is the only one that can introduce a bill to the House floor without it being debated by other committees. The Chairman of the Ways and Means, Robert Doughton, was a Dupont supporter. He insured that the bill would pass Congress.

Dr. James Woodward, a physician and attorney, testified too late on behalf of the American Medical Association. Anslinger, head of the Drug Commission for 31 years, promoted the idea that marihuana made users act extremely violent. In the 1950s, under the Communist threat of McCarthyism, Anslinger now said the exact opposite. Marijuana will pacify you so much that soldiers would not want to fight.

Today, our planet is in desperate trouble. Earth is suffocating as large tracts of rain forests disappear. Pollution, poisons and chemicals are killing people. These great problems could be reversed if we industrialized hemp. Natural biomass could provide all of the planet's energy needs that are currently supplied by fossil fuels. We have consumed 80% of our oil and gas reserves. We need a renewable resource. Hemp could be the solution to soaring gas prices.

THE WONDER PLANT

Hemp has a higher quality fiber than wood fiber. Hempen plastics are biodegradable! Over time, they would break down and not harm the environment. Oil-based plastics, the ones we are very familiar with, help ruin nature; they do not break down and will do great harm in the future. The process to produce the vast array of natural (hempen) plastics will not ruin the rivers as Dupont and other petrochemical companies have done. Ecology does not fit in with the plans of the Oil Industry and the political machine. Hemp products are safe and natural.

MEDICINES SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP. ALSO: They have two essential fatty acids that clean your body of cholesterol. These essential fatty acids are not found anywhere else in nature! Consuming pot seeds is the best thing you could do for your body. Eat uncooked hemp seeds.

CLOTHES SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEMP. Superior hemp products are not allowed to advertise on fascist television. Kentucky, once the top hemp producing state, made it ILLEGAL TO WEAR hemp clothing! Can you imagine being thrown into jail for wearing quality jeans?

The world is crazy...but that does not mean you have to join the insanity. Get together. Spread the news. Tell people, and that includes your children, the truth. Use hemp products. Eliminate the word 'marijuana.' Realize the history that created it. NO ONE HAS EVER, EVER DIED FROM SMOKING POT!! In the entire history of the human race, not one death can be attributed to cannabis. Our society has outlawed grass but condones the use of the KILLERS: TOBACCO and ALCOHOL. Hemp should be declassified and placed in DRUG stores to relieve stress. Hardening and constriction of the arteries are bad; but hemp usage actually enlarges the arteries...which is a healthy condition. We have been so conditioned to think that: Smoking is harmful. There is physical evidence that cannabis is not like any other plant on this planet. One could conclude that it was brought here for the benefit of humanity. Hemp is the ONLY plant where the males appear one way and the females appear very different, physically! No one ever speaks of males and females in regard to the plant kingdom because plants do not show their sexes; except for cannabis. To determine what sex a certain, normal, Earthly plant is: You have to look internally, at its DNA. A male blade of grass (physically) looks exactly like a female blade of grass. The hemp plant has an intense sexuallity. Growers know to kill the males before they fertilize the females.
